This simple basting recipe can be used on all slow-cooked proteins. Keeps meats from drying out.

Introduction

The trick to having moist Barbecue or Smoked proteins is keep the temperature correct but equally important is to keep the protein moist. Mop sauces help with this but there is another method I like to use which has its place. Welcome the Cider Mop Spray.

What is The Cider Mop Spray

The short answer is; a Sprayable mop sauce. This mop sauce is made of simple ingredients cider vinegar, prepared mustard,  and apple just and is sprayed from a spray bottle.

How To Use The Spray

The spray is used during barbecuing or the smoking process. It can be used on most all indirect cooking processes. Use the spray to maintain the temperature of the protein while cooking as well as keeping it moist.

Depending on the cooking temperature, spraying the protein once every 15-30 minutes should suffice. We want to maintain a balance of moisturizing while not opening the grill/smoker hood too often. If you are using a pit-style BBQ this isn't so much of an issue.

The only time to eat diet food is while you're waiting for the steak to cook. Julia Child
